Nestlé to establish manufacturing plant in India
Nestlé India, a subsidiary of Swiss food giant Nestlé, is planning to establish a manufacturing plant in north-east India, in order to expand its presence in the region.
The company has short-listed three sites in three states and expects to sign the deal in the next quarter, the Hindustan Times reported.
According to Nestlé, the plant will initially manufacture noodles and chocolates as sourcing for milk and water may be difficult in the region. The company added that it may have to depend on suppliers from other regions for sourcing the ingredients.
The company currently has five manufacturing plants in India, and its plant in Himachal Pradesh is expected to be commissioned in 2012.
